About Me …

I am a certified Alberta teacher with over 16 years of experience in one of the province’s largest school boards. Over the years, I’ve supported students and families through every stage of their educational journey—adjusting to new grades, managing academic or behavioural struggles, navigating assessments, and choosing the right learning path.

My goal is to give parents clarity, confidence, and practical tools that make a real difference at home and in school—while also supporting teachers by reducing the pressure created by growing student needs and complexities. I am a 2026 featured speaker for the Alberta School Councils Association, presenting on the root causes of school-day behaviour and practical home routines for success.

What I’ve Seen in Schools…

Classrooms are becoming more complex. With recent strikes, larger class sizes, diverse learning needs, and rising behavioural and mental-health concerns, teachers are stretched more than ever. Many families feel overwhelmed, unsure of how to advocate for their child or understand what the school is communicating.

Why I Started Charted Roots…

As a mother of two daughters with learning disabilities, I know firsthand how hard it can be to navigate assessments, advocate in the school system, and create the right supports at home. I created Charted Roots to bridge the gap between home and school—combining my lived experience with classroom expertise to support families with clarity and compassion.

Mission & Purpose

When families have strong routines, clear communication, and consistent support, children arrive at school ready to learn and thrive. But today’s classrooms face growing complexity, and teachers cannot meet every need alone.

As Alberta NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi stated:

“Teachers have been ringing the alarm bell about class size and complexity for years, yet this government did not include those issues in its mandate.”

Charted Roots Education Consulting bridges this gap.
We equip parents with practical tools, routines, and strategies that strengthen learning, behaviour, and confidence—so every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

“Joty helped our family understand the Canadian school system and guided us with respect, patience, and practical advice. We finally feel seen, heard and supported.”
